Brooke Fernandez has been a Marks Education counselor since 2006. Prior to her time at Marks, Brooke served as Assistant Director of Admissions at Trinity College in Hartford, CT. Brooke has had a long and seasoned career as an independent educational counselor; she brings a depth of knowledge about the ever-changing college landscape, which allows her to support clients with varied academic and extracurricular interests throughout their high school careers as well as through their individual application processes.

Over the years, Brooke has worked with a wide variety of students pursuing both the humanities and STEM fields, including athletic recruits and students with learning challenges, among many others. From helping students navigate the Common Application to finalizing essays for college admission, Brooke brings a warm, personalized approach to her work with each student and family. She values education and the importance of finding the best fit for each student, and if her 15 years as an independent academic consultant has taught her anything, it’s that every student’s situation is unique and requires a personalized touch.

Brooke is also a member of the Advisory Council for Collegiate Directions, Inc., our sister non-profit committed to closing the education, achievement, and opportunity gap for low-income, primarily first-generation-to-college students. Brooke is still in touch with CDI scholars from its founding years who are now successful in their careers, a testimony to how the program benefits students through college and beyond. She co-chaired Collegiate Directions’ Annual Benefit in 2017 and 2018.

Brooke is a proud mother of three. She loves traveling, running, and animals, especially dogs, and looks forward to spending time with family and friends on the weekends.

Brooke is an active member of the National Association for College Admission Counseling (NACAC) and the Potomac and Chesapeake Association for College Admission Counseling (PCACAC). She is available to work with students virtually and in-person at the Bethesda, MD, Washington, DC, and McLean, VA offices of Marks Education.
