Farah Khan is a graduate of Brown University with a B.A. in Psychology, with an emphasis on pre-medical subjects. She is a fellow of TeachNOLA, a highly selective accelerated teacher training program committed to raising student achievement in Louisiana’s highest need schools. As a former high school chemistry and biology teacher at Lydian Academy in Menlo Park, she is experienced in teaching students one-on-one and in planning science lessons for students with various learning challenges such as ADD, learning processing issues, and anxiety disorders and improving these students’ confidence and performance.
As a high school biology teacher at Thomas Jefferson High School, a magnet school in Gretna, Louisiana, she taught 10th grade biology and 12th grade anatomy and physiology, earning praise as a highly effective teacher in the Jefferson Parish School system.
Farah taught surface anatomy at a graduate level and supervised interns at the International Institute of Chinese Medicine in Albuquerque, New Mexico. She also speaks, reads, and writes French fluently, is skilled in medical and scientific French, and can tutor up to AP French Language.
Farah is also very skilled in English as a subject and has always scored highly in standardized tests related to this area. She enjoys helping students with excelling in reading and writing at all levels up to AP English Literature and Language.
Farah’s philosophy of tutoring and teaching is based on the belief that all subjects can be broken down into simpler, digestible, and interesting pieces and that every student has the capacity to perform well when they are given the right tools for understanding a given topic.
