Sarah joined Marks Education in 2014 with more than a decade of experience as a teacher and tutor. She first began tutoring elementary school students when she was in high school as a volunteer at Martha’s Table, a local community organization in Washington, DC. Today she tutors middle school, high school, and college students in History, English, Geography, Writing, and Executive Functioning & Study Skills. She also tutors students for the ACT, SAT, Advanced Placement exams and high school entrance exams including the SSAT, ISEE and HSPT. In addition to tutoring, Sarah currently serves as the Director of Program and Business Development at Marks Education.

Sarah works with students with many different learning styles, who often speak about her love for teaching and her excellent communications skills. She loves seeing her students succeed not just through improved test scores or grades, but through their increased confidence as writers and critical readers, skills that will help them over the course of their academic careers.

Born to British parents, Sarah grew up in the Philippines and Australia before her family moved to Northern Virginia when she was in middle school. She attended the Potomac School followed by the University of St. Andrews in Scotland where she took the opportunity to travel as much as possible. She later attended the College of William and Mary where she received her master’s degree in education. She now lives in Washington, DC with her 12-year-old son and rescue mutt Maggie. In her free time, she enjoys walking the trails of Rock Creek Park, reading or watching dark Nordic mysteries, and trying her hand at new recipes.

Sarah is available to work with students virtually and in person in Washington, DC.
