Sarah Newport joined Marks Education in 2014 with more than 10 years of experience in the classroom and as a tutor. She tutors students in ACT, SAT and AP preparation as well as in English, Geography, History, Writing, and Organizational/Study skills. Additionally, she tutors high school entrance exams including the SSAT, ISEE and HSPT. She currently serves as a Director of Program and Business Development.

Sarah works with students with many different learning styles, who often speak about her love for teaching and her excellent communications skills.  She loves seeing her students succeed not just through improved test scores or grades, but through their increased confidence as writers and critical readers, skills that will help them over the course of their academic careers.  She particularly likes helping students grapple with the themes of a novel as they craft their thesis statements and outlines for English papers.

Sarah grew up in the Philippines and Australia before her family moved to Northern Virginia where she attended the Potomac School.  She attended the University of St. Andrews in Scotland where she took the opportunity to travel as much as possible in Europe.  She now lives in Washington, DC with her 11-year-old son and rescue mutt Maggie and in her free time enjoys walking the trails of Rock Creek Park, reading mysteries, and trying her hand at new recipes.

Sarah is available to work with students virtually and in person in Bethesda and Mclean.
