Lance McNeil comes to Marks Education from the University of San Diego, where he taught SAT and GMAT preparation courses for over three years. He also taught SAT preparation classes through Cal-SOAP’s SAT Scholars program, an outreach project designed for students from low-income families, families in which they would be the first to attend college or high schools with low college matriculation rates. Lance also served as substitute faculty for three years at The Bishop’s School, a private coeducational day school, where he taught mathematics to junior high and high school students. His commitment to helping students master complex math concepts and operations, develop their quantitative reasoning skills and mathematical intuitions, and understand the underpinnings of various topics in mathematics made him a preferred substitute for several teachers.
As a tutor at High Tide Tutoring and Premier Tutoring, he tutored junior high through postgraduate students in a wide range of subjects including math, macroeconomics, microeconomics, finance, and English. As the son of a teacher, he has a genuine zeal for learning and a strong desire to help students excel on standardized tests and in their coursework. His approachability and aptitude for distilling complex concepts into digestible pieces is the foundation on which he has built his career as an educator.
Lance earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Pepperdine University. He later earned an MSc in Economic History, with distinction, from the London School of Economics.
In his spare time, Lance enjoys reading about economics and neuroscience, managing his fantasy baseball team, watching soccer, traveling, and taking classes through his local college/university.
