Early Action/Early Decision Deadline: What to do on November 1st

Early Action/Early Decision Deadline

The November 1 Early Action/Early Decision deadline is right around the corner!

Here is a checklist to help you make the most of the next two weeks, so you can submit your applications well before the deadlines — the only things you’ll have to worry about this Halloween season will be ghosts and goblins!

  1. Send your scores: Test scores can take several weeks to arrive at admissions offices. If you have not sent all the appropriate SAT, ACT, Subject Test, and AP scores to your early schools already, you should send them immediately. You can link to the College Board site or the ACT site.
  2. Finalize your writing: Finish your Common App essay and supplements. Feeling stuck? Check out our list of brainstorming tips here.
  3. Check in with your counselor: Make sure your school counselor has a final list of your early schools, any required transcript request forms, and the names of your recommenders as soon as possible.
  4. Sign on the dotted line: If you are applying Early Decision, go ahead and sign the Early Decision Agreement on the Common Application and assign and invite a parent to sign as well. After your parent signs, the form should be forwarded to your school counselor, who will submit it to the university on your behalf.

Of course, don’t forget to proofread your application carefully before submitting. Marks Education Counseling and Test Prep hopes you have a happy Halloween, full of lots of tricks and treats!
